Job summary

City of Denton is seeking a Parks and Recreation Manager to oversee Aquatics operations and facilities, coordinate with DISD, UNT, TWU, and community partners, and ensure programs meet safety, accreditation, and budget goals.

Responsibilities include hiring and supervising seasonal staff, developing schedules, managing CIP/CMP budgets, evaluating program performance, and expanding public engagement across city recreation centers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3+ years in municipal or related field; 2+ years in management or supervisory role.
• For Aquatics, 3+ years in swimming pool operations; NRPA NSPF/CPO certifications preferred within 6 months.
• Ability to develop schedules, manage budgets, and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of regulations, safety, and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee assigned area operations and programs in Parks and Recreation.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to promote and implement programs.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate seasonal staff; monitor performance.
• Develop scheduling and facility planning; manage budgets.
• Review program effectiveness and adjust as needed.
• Maintain safety and compliance with laws and ordinances.
