Job summary

Sarasota County Government is seeking a Parks and Recreation Specialist II/Program Assistant to support facility reservations, registrations, refunds, and financial transactions while delivering excellent customer service to residents and guests.

Responsibilities include park facility monitoring, coordination with staff and volunteers, and accurate reporting. The role requires availability to work full-time, Sundays through Saturdays, at two locations in Sarasota County.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of related work experience.
• Preference for knowledge of parks operations and RecTrac or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Process facility use permits and activity registrations, refunds, reconciliations, and other financial transactions.
• Manage facilities using calendars and prioritize reservations for multiple park facilities.
• Compose correspondence regarding customer accounts and department procedures.
• Interpret and convey park rules and ordinances to the public.
• Respond to inquiries via phone, email, or in person and resolve issues.
• Support staffing for department and county-run programs and events.
• Coordinate with facilities on monthly HVAC schedules and building maintenance.
