Job summary

Horry County Government is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker to perform manual labor and a variety of maintenance tasks across parks, recreation centers, and grounds. You will operate mowers, weed eaters, blowers, and other equipment, while applying fertilizers and pesticides under safety guidelines.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid SC/NC driver’s license, and the ability to pass a pre-employment physical and background check.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Requires a valid South Carolina or North Carolina driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and background check.
• Familiarity with safe handling of chemicals and pesticides preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor and semi-skilled maintenance of parks, fields, and facilities.
• Operate and maintain grounds equipment (mowers, weed eaters, blowers, etc.).
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides and record applications.
• Perform custodial duties and basic repairs around park facilities.
• Prepare athletic fields for play and support events with safe, clean grounds.
