Job summary

The City of Buda seeks an experienced Parks and Recreation Director to lead the parks and recreation system, including major facilities, events, and partnerships. You will shape strategic direction, manage budgets, and supervise staff to deliver exceptional community programs and services.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least seven years in parks and recreation or municipal operations, and strong leadership, budgeting, and contract management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation, municipal operations, athletic facility management, public facility management, or related field.
• NRPA certification or equivalent professional credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides executive leadership and strategic direction for the Parks and Recreation Department, including priorities, policies, and budgets.
• Leads and develops staff and manages scheduling for seven‑day operations, including evenings, weekends, holidays, tournaments, and events.
• Develops and administers operating and capital budgets, monitors revenues and expenditures, and prepares forecasts and plans.
• Oversees maintenance and operations of Buda Championship Park and related facilities and programs.
• Develops partnerships with local, state, and national athletic organizations to attract events.
• Negotiates contracts including facility use, tournaments, and services within authority.
• Develops standard operating procedures for facilities and operations, covering safety, scheduling, and customer service.

Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation administration, public administration, business administration, sports management, landscape architecture, construction management, or related field
