Job summary

The City of Buda, TX is seeking a Parks and Recreation Director who will provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the city’s parks, facilities, and programs. The Director will supervise staff, develop operating and capital budgets, manage contracts, and build partnerships to attract events and tournaments at Buda Championship Park.

• Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation administration, public administration, business administration, sports management, landscape architecture, construction management, or related field.
• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation or municipal operations, including at least three (3) years of management or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides executive leadership and strategic direction for the Parks and Recreation Department, including budgets, policies, and long-range planning.
• Leads and develops administrative and field staff and establishes staffing and maintenance schedules for seven-day operations.
• Develops and administers operating and capital budgets; monitors revenues and expenditures; and prepares financial forecasts.
• Oversees maintenance and operations of Buda Championship Park, including scheduling, tournaments, partnerships, and revenue generation.
• Establishes partnerships with leagues, associations, tournament operators, and sanctioning bodies to attract events.
• Negotiates and administers contracts including tournament and facility-use agreements; manages vendor contracts and professional services.
• Develops standard operating procedures for facilities and operations; ensures safety and customer service.
