Job summary

Frisco seeks an experienced Parks and Recreation Director to provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. You will work with the City Manager’s Office, City Council, and partners to advance a resident-driven master plan guiding a system of parks, trails and facilities.

The ideal candidate will manage a large, multi-divisional organization, build strong relationships with elected officials, staff, and community partners, and deliver

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience: 5–7 years of progressive leadership in parks and recreation or related field, with at least 5 years in management or executive role.
• Certifications: CPRP required within 12 months; CPRE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the Parks and Recreation Department.
• Collaborate with the City Manager’s Office and City Council; lead a multi-disciplinary organization.
• Oversee budgets, staff development, programs, facilities, and community partnerships.
• Drive the master plan initiatives and capital projects to completion.
