Job summary

City of Gainesville seeks an experienced Project Manager for the Wild Spaces & Public Places Department. You will plan and direct major capital projects, coordinate budgets, and oversee consultants and contractors to improve community spaces.

This is a senior role reporting to the WSPP Director. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in construction/engineering and at least five years of complex project management experience, with strong communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, construction management, or engineering.
• 5 years of responsible experience in the management of complex construction projects.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, supervises major capital projects including park and public space projects.
• Coordinates budgeting, design, construction management and long-range planning studies.
• Reviews contracts, bids, and progress reports.
• Communicates with officials, consultants, and contractors to plan improvements.
