Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Parks Operator II to maintain county parks, mow grass, control weeds, and repair signs and equipment as needed. The role requires performing minor vehicle repairs, operating heavy equipment, and transporting participants by bus for special events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions; operate required equipment; good verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, cuts and sprays weeds on county property.
• Repairs and replaces park signs and park equipment.
• Performs minor repairs to park vehicles.
• Operates heavy equipment as needed.
• Drives bus to and from special events to transport participants.
• Repairs and replaces park fencing and performs concrete work.
• Held financially responsible for equipment used and uniforms issued.
• Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
