Job summary

Township of Ypsilanti in Michigan seeks a Parks Superintendent to lead the maintenance, operation, and improvement of parks and facilities. You will supervise staff, manage schedules, coordinate projects, and ensure safety and quality across programs and custodial services.

Responsibilities include budget support, records management with CMMS, and collaboration with engineers and community partners. Must demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving in a dynamic municipal setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal parks or related operations.
• Three years of supervisory or management experience.
• Experience with CMMS/city maintenance systems such as CityWorks.
• Valid Michigan driver's license with clean driving record.
• Ability to supervise employees under collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, schedule, and direct daily operations of Township parks and facilities.
• Develop annual and seasonal maintenance programs for parks, fields, playgrounds, and landscaping.
• Coordinate capital projects, budget development, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Ensure safety compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA and township policies.
• Lead, train, and evaluate maintenance staff; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Maintain accurate records using CMMS and reporting systems.
• Represent the department at meetings and public events.
