Job summary

The City of Irving is seeking a Parks Supervisor to plan, organize, and supervise activities of the Parks district and staff, ensuring maintenance and operation of multiple parks and athletic facilities. The role includes procurement, budgeting, reporting, and delivering information to the public.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate degree and five years of related experience with at least one year in a supervisory role, plus knowledge of turf, horticulture, and irrigation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with recreation administration coursework and five years of experience, plus one year in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of turf management, horticulture, chemical application, irrigation, or arboriculture for parks maintenance.
• Valid Class C Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and supervise activities of assigned district and staff.
• Oversee operations, inspection, maintenance and repairs of parks and athletic facilities.
• Coordinate support for special events with City divisions, departments and community organizations.
• Prepare reports and presentations for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and City Council.
• Participate in procurement and budget preparation and administration.
