Job summary

South Suburban Parks and Recreation is seeking a part-time Parks Maintenance Assistant with medical benefits eligibility. You will perform general maintenance across parks, trails and open spaces, and may lead part-time crews.

Expect shifts that cover mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays; benefits include medical coverage. Ideal candidates have park maintenance knowledge, irrigation understanding, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old with a High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year skilled labor experience in park/landscape/grounds.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License or ability to obtain upon hire and maintain driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance at district parks, trails, open space and grounds.
• May lead part-time/seasonal crew activities as needed.

Parks Maintenance Assistant - Part-Time Medical Benefits Eligible

This is an ongoing recruitment process, with no specific closingdate. We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis.

$17.05 - $21.70 per hour

Do you want to learn and perform skilled maintenance in our parks,trails and open spaces? If you answered YES, this is the opportunityfor you! The Parks Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performinggeneral maintenance duties at assigned District parks, trails, openspace, and other grounds. May occasionally be responsible for leadingpart-time/seasonal crew activities. This job may require shiftsranging from morning to evening hours, weekends and holidays.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Has knowledge of methods, techniques and tools used in theconstruction maintenance of parks, landscaping areas and relatedfacilities preferred.
• Understands watering requirements for lawns, trees, plants andvarious types of soil preferred.
• Has knowledge in the field of irrigation, installation,maintenance and repairs preferred.
• Exhibits the use and maintenance of chemical spraying equipment preferred.
• Displays operation of a wide variety of equipment and tools usedin parks maintenance, repair and construction in a safe andeffective manner.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally;establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public.
• Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellentinterpersonal and communication skills.
• Has the ability to work productively without supervision withinestablished policies and procedures service.
• Has the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.
• One (1) year as a crew leader preferred.
• Irrigation experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a high schooldiploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year skilled labor experience with park, horticulture,landscape, forestry including operating commercial landscapeequipment prefered.
• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License or the ability toobtain upon hire and maintain an acceptable driving record.
