Job Description

The City of Renton is recruiting for the seasonal positions of Parks Laborer to assist with maintaining City parks. These positions may work up to a six-month duration between April - October, up to 40 hours per week. There are several positions available, and we are looking for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and performing physical labor.

This is an ongoing application pool. As positions become available during the season, we will review applications from this posting.

Supervision

Reports To: Parks Maintenance Supervisor and/or Lead Parks Maintenance Worker

Supervises: None

Essential Functions

• Operate maintenance equipment and tools such as sod cutters, pruners, rotary hand mowers, backpack blowers, edgers, weed eaters, and park vehicles; perform routine maintenance.
• Prepare parks for daily use by picking up trash, cleaning picnic areas, play and park equipment, restrooms, tables, and BBQs.
• Perform routine ball field maintenance: fill home plates and pitching mounds, remove rainwater, screen fields, water, line, and set bases.
• Close park facilities, restock and close restrooms, lock gates.
• Prep surfaces for painting; paint walls, fences, buildings, and facilities.
• Assist with sprinkler system repairs, including checking heads and digging trenches.
• Prepare and grade terrain, apply fertilizers, seed, sod lawns, weed planting areas, transplant shrubs, prune, mow, and edge lawns.
• Assist with boat launch operations at Gene Coulon Park, direct traffic, communicate park rules, and assist during emergencies.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

• Valid Driver's License
• Successful driving record check
