Job summary

The City of Farmington is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker I to perform a wide range of maintenance tasks for parks, facilities, and open spaces. The role requires weekend/holiday availability, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to operate various grounds equipment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid NM driver's license with CDL endorsement, and background checks. This is a regular, full-time position with a 40-hour work week and an open-when-filled posting.

Qualifications

• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and various work hours.
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, grounds maintenance experience.
• Valid New Mexico driver's license with CDL endorsement, with acceptable driving record for past three years or ability to obtain CDL within one year of hire.
• Extensive background checks required.
• Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance, including chemicals and fertilizers.
• Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs; some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintenance and operation of park buildings, grounds, open spaces and parks.
• Maintains park and open spaces including sports fields, courts, sprinklers, and landscaping.
• Operates a motor vehicle to assist in department operations.
• Keeps records of completed work and maintains relationships with staff and the public.
