Job summary

City of Southfield Human Resources is seeking a grounds maintenance worker to perform routine park and city site upkeep, operate light vehicles and equipment, and ensure safety standards. The role requires physical outdoor work and adherence to city policies.

Work schedule is 40 hours a week for 9 months a year; prior experience is helpful but not required. Must have a high school diploma and a Michigan driver's license; benefits are not offered for this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Michigan driver's license with good driving record.
• Previous grounds maintenance experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Outside ground maintenance of City sites.
• Operate vehicles and other powered equipment.
• Changing trash liners, liter pick up, and general upkeep of parks grounds.
• Athletic field maintenance and set up.
• Lawn maintenance, using power mowers, trimmers, and edger.
• Weeding, watering and planting flowers.
• Must wear steel-toed shoes.
