Job summary

Prince William County Government's Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Grounds Specialist to maintain turf, athletic fields, landscapes and park amenities across county facilities. The role emphasizes outdoor work, physical effort, and ability to operate a variety of equipment, with supervision guided by established procedures.

The position is up to 30 hours per pay period, primarily weekends, offering a strong benefits package including health, retirement, leave and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of grounds, turf, or park maintenance experience.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam and background checks.
• Preferred: Class A CDL and Virginia certifications for fertilizers/ pesticides.
• Experience leading a team and interacting with the public is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds and amenities at county parks, buildings, and schools.
• Turf and athletic field maintenance and landscape upkeep.
• Operate equipment and adapt procedures as needed.
• Work under general supervision and in varied weather conditions.
