Job summary

El Paso County is seeking a Groundskeeper to perform day-to-day general maintenance across parks, golf course and surrounding areas. The role requires basic knowledge of construction materials and turf management, with the ability to operate various mowers and related equipment.

The incumbent will ensure safe, clean facilities, lead routine maintenance tasks, and support events and park operations. Employment includes a comprehensive benefits package and on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus at least 1 year of grounds and turf maintenance experience.
• Or any equivalent combination of experience and training providing the required knowledge and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine preventive and regular maintenance on equipment and facilities including landscaping, irrigation, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and related tasks.
• Inspects equipment and facilities regularly to ensure proper maintenance.
• Performs routine construction repairs on facilities, roads, fences, and related infrastructure.
• Maintains and paints interior/exterior of facilities.
• Prepares fields for seeding, fertilizing, and sporting events; waters areas using sprinklers or irrigation systems.
• Maintains sanitary restrooms and keeps shop areas clean; restocks supplies.
• Maintains sprinkler systems, water pumps, and related components; installs, repairs, or replaces as needed.
• Operates trucks, mowers, hand tools and other equipment; leads daily trash collections and keeps county lakes free of debris.
• Trains and mentors staff to develop leadership and technical skills; participates in safety training.
