Job summary

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation is hiring a Parks Grounds Assistant to support park and cemetery grounds operations and related tasks. You will assist with marking grave sites, maintenance, and setting up memorials as needed.

Under supervision, perform minor maintenance, operate tools, and assist with safeguarding park facilities. This role requires outdoor work, strong teamwork, and ability to adapt to changing priorities across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in grounds keeping or general labor.
• Must possess a Texas driver's license if operating vehicles.
• Ability to work outdoors and around the public.

Responsibilities

• Picks up litter and services restrooms.
• Performs grounds keeping and maintenance tasks.
• Operates hand and power tools.
• Assembles and dismantles portable stages and seating.
• Performs routine cleaning of facilities.
• Operates vehicles and assists the public with questions.
• Assists with graffiti or paint removal.
