Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Parks Grounds Specialist to perform specialized maintenance, construction, and grounds keeping tasks around Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park and other park facilities. Under general supervision, you will maintain fields, trails, and infrastructure, repair concrete, operate department equipment, and ensure safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma and 2 years of related experience, with substitutions allowed; a valid Texas driver license is preferred

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years in grounds keeping or labor.
• Experience may substitute for education up to four years.
• Ability to operate power tools and equipment.
• Ability to travel to multiple work locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance tasks.
• Perform repairs and minor/major work; general concrete work.
• Operate department equipment and hand tools.
• Conduct safety inspections and address deficits.
• Assist the public with questions and concerns.
