Job summary

City-of-Duluth-Minnesot Parks & Grounds Maintenance Manager will oversee planning, directing, and evaluating routine and capital maintenance across City parks and City properties, supervising maintenance staff, and acting as project manager to provide technical guidance on park projects.

The role requires independent judgment, strong leadership, collaboration with stakeholders, budget development, bid review, contract negotiations, and ensuring safety and code compliance while advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus four years of related professional experience; or eight years of related education/experience.
• Two years of supervisory/lead experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate park maintenance and capital plans.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and consultants to develop plans that adhere to standards.
• Direct the determination of scope, budget, and methodology for maintenance projects; prepare bid specs with consultants/contractors.
• Lead negotiation of contract terms with consultants/contractors.
• Inspect work for conformance to specifications and adjust as necessary.
• Coordinate with City departments to share resources and minimize duplication.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, or a related professional field

Two years supervisory/lead experience in similar complexity and level of responsibility
