Job summary

The City of Bentonville is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to maintain grounds, parks, buildings, and recreational areas under general supervision. You will perform a range of manual and semi-skilled tasks and must be prepared to work weekends and during severe weather.

Responsibilities include mowing, planting, trimming, applying fertilizers and herbicides, repairing benches and fences, and assisting with athletic field prep.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, plants trees, shrubs, or flowers according to instructions and planned design.
• Applies herbicide, sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides as designated by crew leader.
• Trims hedges and shrubs; primes trees; mulches and cultivates gardens.
• Picks up and disposes of litter and trash from grounds and designated areas.
• Digs trenches and installs drain tiles; keeps storm drains and culverts free of debris.
• Repairs and paints benches, tables and guardrails; assists in repairs of roads, walks, buildings, and equipment.
• Maintains fall surface under play structures.
• Shovels snow and spreads ice-melt to prevent ice buildup.
• Supervises temporary employees during assignments.
• Responds to city services during inclement weather events.
