Job summary

The City of Great Falls is seeking a Parks Maintenance worker to perform skilled to semi-skilled tasks in maintenance and construction of parks, buildings, and landscapes. He/she reports to the Parks Manager or supervisor and may assist with pool and playground projects.

Responsibilities include cutting grass, landscaping, equipment maintenance, snow removal, and supporting carpentry/plumbing/irrigation tasks. Requires basic horticulture knowledge and physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

• Requires basic landscaping/grounds keeping knowledge.
• Familiarity with fertilizers and pesticides.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work well with peers, supervisors and the public.
• Familiarity with building cleaning and maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, sprays weeds, waters landscaped areas; applies pesticides.
• Performs minor repairs; installs/removes signs; maintains parks equipment.
• Removes ice/snow; installs/removes snow fences.
• Assists skilled trades on carpentry, plumbing, irrigation projects.
• Checks gauges/flow meters to keep pools operating safely.
• Maintains athletic/ball fields and trail systems.
• Cleans and maintains Parks buildings.
