Summary of Responsibilities: Under the general supervision of the Parks and Facilities Supervisor, performs all maintenance duties and charged with the general upkeep of the City parks and facilities.
Example of duties:
- Prepares parks and facilities daily for user
- Maintains quality parks and facilities through continuous evaluation
- Insures the enforcement of parks and recreation rules and regulations
- Performs those activities necessary to insure the safety of park and facility users
- Operates equipment safely and efficiently
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
Desirable Minimum Qualifications
- An acceptable combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
- Basic first aid and CPR certification preferred
- Ability to establish good working relationships with the public, fellow employees, and supervisors. Ability to maintain self-control and composure and set a professional example for the staff and participants.
- Skills in operating a variety of maintenance equipment including zero-turn mowers, chainsaws, weed-eaters
- Skills in pruning and planting trees
- Skills in creation of flower beds
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Valid state Driver’s License required
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Environment: Work is performed primarily in a field setting:
- The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions. No effective protection from the weather.
- The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
- The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
- The worker is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
