Job summary

The City of Springfield’s Park Department is seeking a Maintenance Worker to help care for 105 park locations and over 3,200 acres of park property. This is a full-time, year-round role with weekend rotation.

Candidates must have 1 year of equipment operation experience or 6 months with City of Springfield, plus a Class B CDL within probation, and CPR/First Aid certification. Training provided for airbrake endorsements where required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience operating dump trucks, flusher trucks, skid-steer loaders, front-end loaders, or comparable equipment.
• Alternatively, one year of maintenance/construction work in parks/public works settings.
• Must pass the CDL written exam within 90 days of hire and obtain a Class B CDL during probation.
• Some assignments may require airbrakes; endorsements such as tanker and/or Class A may be needed.
• CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within the probation period.

• Operate heavy equipment to maintain park facilities and grounds.
• Follow CDL and safety requirements in daily work.
• Support maintenance of park properties and recreational assets as assigned.
