Job summary

The City of Portland is seeking a parks maintenance worker to perform mowing, trimming, pruning, irrigation, and related upkeep across parks and facilities. This essential position requires a High School diploma or GED and a valid Texas Class C driver's license; overtime may be required for storms or special events, and attendance is mandatory.

You will work with equipment, perform routine maintenance, and help prepare for events in a collaborative public-service environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and valid Texas Class C Driver's license.
• Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Mow, weed, trim and prune city parks, buildings, medians and right-of-ways.
• Maintains parks and facilities through litter removal, chemical spraying, drainage work and routine maintenance tasks.
• Determines equipment needed for assignment and loads tools onto vehicles.
• Transports vehicles and equipment to job sites and sets up safety equipment to protect crew and the public.
• Maintains a safe work environment and follows safety rules and uses PPE; performs other duties as required.
