Job summary

The City of Yuma is seeking a Parks Construction Specialist to join the Parks and Recreation team. The role focuses on concrete, welding, and general building maintenance across City facilities and parks, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Under supervision, you will supervise crews, operate power tools, and participate in repairs and revitalization projects to support community spaces and infrastructure. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 3 years’ concrete, welding, or general construction experience.
• CPSI certifications preferred.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license; Commercial class may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks at City facilities, parks, and landscaped areas.
• Maintains and repairs parks, parkways, recreational facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Oversees safety rules, traffic control, and emergency response in work zones.
• Trains staff in proper methods, inspects work, and resolves maintenance problems.
• Supervises work crews, assigns tasks, and monitors safety and quality standards.
• Operates power tools and maintenance equipment; transports and improves City facilities.
