Job summary

The City of Cleveland is seeking a Parks/Cemetery Maintenance Worker to perform manual and semi-skilled work in the upkeep of parks, grounds, and cemetery facilities. The role includes mowing, grave preparation, and operating grounds equipment to keep public spaces safe and clean.

Essential duties involve outdoor work in varying weather, on-call availability, and collaboration with Public Works staff. A Texas driver’s license and background checks are required; salary is hourly and paid

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, cemetery operations, or public works preferred.
• Ability to operate lawn maintenance equipment, hand tools, and light machinery.
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Mow, edge, trim, and maintain parks, rights-of-way, and cemetery grounds.
• Assist with grave preparation, burial setup, and restoration of cemetery sites.
• Maintain and clean park facilities, restrooms, shelters, and common areas.
• Plant, water, prune, and remove trees, shrubs, and flowers as needed.
• Operate and maintain mowers, trimmers, blowers, small tractors, and other grounds equipment.
• Pick up litter and debris and maintain safe, clean public spaces.
• Assist with park improvements, special projects, and event setup/teardown.
• Report safety hazards, vandalism, or maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public when performing assigned duties.
• Support other Public Works operations and duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include landscaping, mowing, equipment operation, burial preparation assistance, and general grounds maintenance. This position supports daily operations and helps ensure public areas are safe, clean, and well maintained.Essential Personnel DesignationThis position may be designated as essential personnel.
