Job summary

Gulfshoresal in Bryan, TX is seeking a Cemetery Maintenance Aide to assist with the upkeep of City of Bryan cemeteries. Under the Parks Operations Manager, you will support grounds care, mark gravesites, and maintain sales records while providing courteous service to visitors.

The role requires flexibility with a ~15-20 hour workweek, 7am–5pm, with some weekends, and a pay rate of $14.00–$17.00 per hour depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Experience with cemetery maintenance preferred.
• Ability to operate basic maintenance equipment.
• Willingness to work outdoors and adapt to variable hours, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance and repairs of the cemeteries.
• Display proper etiquette when around cemetery patrons.
• Mark gravesites for burials, assist with plot sales, and maintain records.
• Answer business-related phone calls and internal emails.
• Prepare to assist patrons for burials and respond to inquiries.
• Adhere to cemetery rules and regulations and address violations.
• Perform landscaping tasks: mowing, weed-eating, trimming, and debris removal.
• Maintain irrigation systems and report malfunctions.
• Ensure safe operation of all equipment and participate in events as needed.

Hiring Pay Rate: $14.00-$17.00/hour (depending on qualifications)

Job Summary:

Under direction from the Parks Operations Manager or his/her delegate, assists with the maintenance of City of Bryan owned cemeteries.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assists with any and all maintenance and repairs of the cemeteries.
• Displays proper etiquette when working around or with cemetery patrons.
• Marks gravesites for burials, assists with the sale of plots, and maintains sales records
• Answers business-related phones calls and replies to internal staff emails
• Prepares to assist any patron, prior to their arrival in the cemetery, for a burial.
• Assists the public with questions and concerns regarding cemeteries when needed.
• Adheres to cemetery rules and regulations regarding grave markers, decorations, etc. and takes appropriate action to rectify violations.
• Re-levels headstones and repairs sunken graves/uneven grounds.
• Mows, weed-eats and blows grass clippings and leaves.
• Performs weeding and trimming around fences, headstones, and other landscaping areas.
• Maintains and or repairs cemetery irrigation systems to make sure they are in proper working condition; reports malfunctions to appropriate personnel as required.
• Maintains fencing and entryways.
• Removes trash, dead and/or damaged artificial flowers and other debris.
• Performs general maintenance of equipment & buildings, including painting, custodial services, and minor repair of equipment.
• Ensures the safe and proper use of all equipment.
• Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts and conditions as required.
• Assists with the setup, teardown, and other tasks for special City events as directed.
• Assists at other parks as needed/assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Responds regularly and promptly to work.
