Job summary

The City of University City seeks a Parking Controller/Attendant for the University City Police Department. The role involves issuing parking tickets, walking or driving to enforce violations, and providing school traffic escorts as needed.

Reports to the Bureau of Services Commander and supports non-criminal traffic activities. Minimum requirements include a High School diploma (or equivalent) and a Missouri Driver’s License with no criminal history.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Police Department operating rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of the geography of University City.
• Knowledge of parking regulations and ordinances.
• Knowledge of laws and ordinances regulating operation of automotive vehicles.
• Ability to operate a vehicle safely.
• Ability to learn parking control hardware and software.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently without constant supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Issue tickets for parking violations.
• Perform school crossing guard duties when needed.
• Perform deliveries and other administrative tasks.
• Assist with traffic control when officers are unavailable.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
• Work various shifts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
