Job summary

City of University City is seeking a Compliance Officer to enforce nuisance ordinances and document violations. You will be a non-commissioned member of the University City Police Department and split time between office and fieldwork.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills. Prior experience interacting with the public in challenging situations is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Basic personal computer knowledge.
• Current & valid driver's license.
• Experience working with the public under emotionally trying circumstances.
• Preferably 2–3 years of professional experience; related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patrols and nuisance inspections in the public.
• Notify property owners or occupants about nuisance violations.
• Maintain department files and document violations.
• Prepare violation reports.
• Follow up inspections as needed.
• Attend Administrative Adjudication court as required.
• Enforce city ordinances with firmness, tact, and impartiality.
