Qualifications

• Check and fill fuel and oil in equipment after training.
• Greet guests courteously, answer questions, and provide assistance as needed.
• Provide lunch, break, or coverage in other departments as needed.

Purpose

The Parking Lot Attendant is responsible for safely and efficiently directing vehicle traffic and assisting guests with parking at Santa’s Village. Because parking operations are concentrated around guest arrival times, this position also performs seasonal grounds and maintenance duties before transitioning to parking lot responsibilities each day.

During the spring, summer, and fall seasons, these duties primarily include lawn care, landscaping, and general outdoor maintenance. During the Christmastime season, duties may include snow and ice removal, shoveling, salting, and maintaining safe walkways and outdoor areas. Parking Lot Attendants may also provide lunch, break, or operational coverage in other departments as needed.

This position requires frequent interaction with guests, the ability to work safely and independently, and a willingness to perform a variety of outdoor tasks while contributing to a safe, courteous, and efficient guest experience.

Functions and Responsibilities

• Direct vehicle traffic and assist guests with parking safely and efficiently
• Monitor parking areas for vehicle and pedestrian safety and respond promptly to changing traffic conditions
• Perform lawn mowing, trimming, landscaping, watering, weeding, and other outdoor maintenance during spring, summer, and fall operations
• Shovel, salt, and assist with snow and ice removal during winter/Christmastime operations
• Pick up litter and collect and sort recyclable materials from parking and grounds areas
• Safely operate lawn mowers, string trimmers, and other assigned equipment after appropriate training
• Assist with checking and filling fuel and oil in equipment after appropriate training
• Greet guests courteously, answer questions, and provide assistance as needed
• Provide lunch, break, or operational coverage in other departments as needed
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude and remain in “good show” throughout the workday
• Follow all established safety procedures and properly use required PPE
• Perform other duties as assigned

Extent of Public Contact

The Parking Lot Attendant will greet guests, graciously provide them assistance, and answer their questions to make their visit enjoyable.

Physical Demands

Position requires frequent reaching, stretching, stooping and climbing up and down stairs. Much of the workday consists of standing and walking. Often this person will be required to lift bags weighing up to 30 pounds, and occasionally may be required to lift up to 70 pounds.

Must have the following physical capabilities to ensure guest safety throughout the park:

• Quick Response Time : Ability to react promptly to moving vehicles, pedestrians, changing traffic conditions, safety concerns, emergencies, and requests for assistance
• Manual Labor : Operates lawn mowers, weed whackers, shovels, and other lawn equipment
• Physical Stamina : Stands for long periods, walks, and sometimes lifts or moves objects

Working Conditions and Environment

Daytime and Christmastime position which may include weekends and holidays. Position is outdoors.

Attendants may work in any of the following extreme weather situations:

• Summer – Hot and Humid Conditions:
  • Attendants will work in hot and sunny weather, often with high humidity, especially in summer months
• Rain and Stormy Weather
  • Attendants may have to work in light rain or deal with temporary bursts of inclement weather like thunderstorms or heavy rain
• Windy Conditions
  • In areas with frequent winds, attendants may need to monitor weather conditions to ensure safety of guests and employees
• Winter – Cold Conditions
  • Attendants may be required to work in low temperatures, possibly with snow or ice
  • Will need to dress warmly, including wearing layers, gloves, hats, and appropriate outerwear
  • Depending on the location, there may be wind chill factors or occasional snow, which could impact visibility and comfort

Job Requirements

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Previous parking lot, landscaping, or lawn care experience is preferred
• Must be able to exhibit all physical demands listed in this job description at any given time during shift
• Must be willing to work weekends
• Must be able to work independently, with little daily supervision
