Job summary

The City of Omaha is seeking a Parking Enforcement Ambassador to maintain compliance with parking regulations and provide professional service to the community. This full-time swing-shift role reports to the City and operates in the field daily.

You will patrol routes on foot, use LPR technology, issue citations, assist the public, and report hazards. Candidates should have a valid driver's license, strong communication, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
• Proven ability to handle high-stress or confrontational situations professionally.
• Basic proficiency with smartphones and mobile applications.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned routes on foot 3–5 miles daily to ensure compliance with parking regulations.
• Enforce City of Omaha parking ordinances accurately and consistently.
• Utilize License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology to monitor time limits and violations.
• Issue citations and warnings with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Respond to parking complaints and enforcement requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Assess situations and make decisive enforcement decisions; identify scofflaw vehicles, request towing when necessary, and initiate booting actions as directed.
• Perform meter hooding as requested by the management team.
• Provide clear, respectful guidance to the public regarding parking rules, directions, how to pay for parking, and general city information.
• De-escalate confrontational situations while maintaining authority and professionalism.
• Identify and report hazards, damaged meters, missing signage, faded markings, and missing or incorrect decals/stickers.
• Operate enforcement equipment and mobile devices ethically and professionally.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, and high wind.
