Job summary

Hamilton County Mayor's Office seeks three Park Ranger positions in the County Parks. This is a law enforcement role requiring current POST certification and the ability to obtain Tennessee certification within six months.

NCIC background checks, fingerprinting, and polygraph/psychological evaluations are part of the process. Under supervision, Park Rangers interact with the public, enforce state and local laws within park lands, provide safety and first aid, and coordinate with other agencies

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current and valid Tennessee P.O.S.T. certification or equivalent from another state, with ability to obtain Tennessee certification within six months.
• Must be eligible for and maintain commission by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
• Must pass NCIC background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and information to park users and visitors.
• Provide reservation/check-in assistance to park visitors.
• Compile reports and forward recommendations.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in safety of park visitors.
• Maintain security presence and enforce laws and park policies.
• Coordinate with law enforcement or public service entities as warranted.
• Work rotating schedule outside traditional work week.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
