Job summary

City of Hampton seeks a Park Ranger to patrol city parks and facilities, ensuring safety, enforcing laws and policies, and preserving parkland. The role covers operations in law enforcement, information, interpretation, public relations, conservation, and maintenance.

The position requires shift work including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call standby; requires a high school diploma or GED, and completion of the Hampton Police Academy or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of Hampton Police Academy or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in park operations and maintenance.
• Experience with wildlife and/or domestic animals preferred; supervisory experience is a plus.
• Some coursework in law enforcement, environmental science, aquatics, or related fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol city parks and property to ensure safety and compliance with laws and policies.
• Provide outstanding customer service to visitors and perform diverse park operations tasks.
• Involve in law enforcement, information, interpretation, public relations, conservation, and maintenance activities.
• Provide supervision to frontline staff and work according to set procedures.
