Job summary

Great Parks of Hamilton County is hiring a full-time Ranger to protect park visitors and property. The role involves conducting patrols by cruiser, on foot, or watercraft, enforcing laws, and serving as a first responder to emergencies.

The department emphasizes public safety, community engagement, and collaboration with other agencies. The position offers a new pay schedule with starting hourly rates and opportunities for advancement based on prior Peace Officer experience.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ohio Peace Officer Certification, pass psychological, polygraph, and/or voice stress analysis examinations.
• Pass a criminal background check, background check investigation and pre-employment physical. Minimum 21 years of age
• Preferred: Associate degree or higher in law enforcement, criminal justice, natural resources, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional law enforcement protection and service. Patrols areas in cruiser, on foot, by boat, bicycle, and UTV/ATV.
• Maintains good public relations and service to park visitors. Provides information, directions, and assistance; uses tactical communication to handle violators and the public.
• Enforces park rules, regulations and by-laws, and federal/state laws; apprehends and processes violators; responds to reports of criminal activity.
• Acts as first responder to emergencies; responds to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and traffic accidents; conducts investigations and prepares reports.
• Maintains security of park facilities; conducts security checks; opens and closes parks; coordinates with other agencies as needed.
