Job summary

Stark County Park District's Public Safety Department is seeking a full-time Ranger (Public Safety Officer) to enforce Ohio laws and park rules across multiple locations under the direction of the Public Safety Manager. The role patrols park sites by vehicle, bicycle, or on foot; conducts investigations; prepares reports; assists patrons and conducts education programs.

Requirements include Ohio Peace Officer Certification, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and eligibility

Qualifications

• Introductory knowledge of law enforcement procedures and safety practices.
• Introductory knowledge of Ohio laws relating to wildlife, watercraft and criminal codes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Patrol park sites by vehicle, bicycle, on foot, or other designated vehicles.
• Enforce Ohio laws and park rules; issue citations and make custodial arrests if needed.
• Prepare and complete reports related to arrests, citations and dispositions.
• Engage with park patrons, provide information, directions and conduct education programs.
• Investigate criminal activity and preserve evidence with proper chain of custody.
