Job summary

North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) seeks a Park Ranger I to protect and interpret natural and cultural resources at state parks. The role includes law enforcement, emergency response, public education, and resource management.

The Park Ranger is a commissioned officer enforcing state laws and park regulations. A bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or Natural Science is preferred, with additional requirements such as background checks and training in safety

Qualifications

• Candidates must meet minimum education and experience as stated in the vacancy announcement.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation or Natural Science.
• Certification/qualifications in law enforcement or related training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Research the natural and cultural resources at the park and develop management plans.
• Prepare and conduct environmental interpretation and education programming.
• Perform emergency medical response and rescue in parks.
• Assist with maintenance of park facilities and supplies.
