Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is seeking a Park Ranger I (S) to join its Division of Parks and Recreation in North Carolina. This role involves educational programming, natural resource management, law enforcement/emergency services, seasonal staff supervision, and park administration.

As a commissioned law enforcement officer, you will patrol and enforce state laws and park regulations, with a schedule including evenings, weekends on a rotating basis,

Responsibilities

• Researching the park's natural and cultural resources to develop and implement resource management plans, including prescribed fire and invasive species removal.
• Preparing and conducting environmental interpretation and education programming.
• Performing and directing emergency medical response and emergency rescue in the park and other parks as needed.
• Assisting with maintenance of park facilities and routine repairs.
• Handling operations, facility upkeep and administration of parks and visitor-focused programs.
• Issuing facility permits, opening/closing facilities, and purchasing equipment and supplies.
