Job summary

Racine County is seeking a hands-on Parks Maintenance Worker to repair and maintain parks, grounds, buildings and facilities, and to operate park machinery and equipment in all weather. You will support the Parks, Engineering, and Highway Departments with in-the-field surveying and seasonal workload balancing.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience operating machinery used in park maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience operating machinery and equipment used in park maintenance.
• Knowledge of tree care and snow plow operations preferred.
• Ability to interpret simple construction plans related to surveying.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and public interaction.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair work on parks, grounds, buildings and facilities.
• Operate equipment used in park construction and maintenance.
• Plow snow and salt icy park roads and County facility parking lots.
• Perform daily operator maintenance checks and preventative maintenance.
• Move equipment from one project to another.
• Report problems to dispatcher and management and receive instructions via 2-way radio.
• Perform minor repair on machinery and equipment.
• Complete surveying tasks for PW departments
• Balance surveying and parks responsibilities seasonally.
