Job summary

The City of Hialeah is seeking a Park Captain to plan, supervise and develop community recreation programs. The role oversees a facility, staff, volunteers, and contractors, coordinating activities for youth and adults while ensuring safety and quality of service.

You will manage operations, evaluate programs, prepare reports, and engage with the public to promote recreational activities, with duties including scheduling, maintenance oversight, and compliance with rules.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation or related field and two years of progressive parks/recreation experience.
• Two years including at least one year of supervisory/management experience.
• Valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of recreational facilities and programs.
• Plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate existing and new programs.
• Supervise full-time, part-time staff, volunteers, and vendors.
• Prepare evaluations and staff training as needed.
• Inspect facilities for safety and operational readiness.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Schedule work assignments and coordinate maintenance.
