Job summary

NYC Parks is seeking a City Park Worker to support inspections of parks, playgrounds, and recreation facilities in Manhattan and across the five boroughs. Under supervision, you will use handheld devices and GIS to document park assets and conditions, then prepare reports with Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications emphasize a valid NY driver's license, the ability to follow orders, and physical readiness for outdoor work in all seasons. Residency rules apply for certain candidates.

Qualifications

• There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
• A New York State driver's license is required.
• Ability to read and to understand and obey orders is required.
• There are certain medical and physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, inspect parks and playgrounds, public restrooms, recreation centers and golf courses using a handheld computer and digital camera.
• Utilize knowledge and apply standards for various inspection programs.
• Locate and drive to inspection sites throughout the five boroughs.
• Employ Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to map park features.
• Produce inspection reports using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
