The Department of Game, Fish and Parks in Canistota, SD is seeking a Park Management Intern for the Summer session (May–August). The role offers on-site work, daytime shifts, and potential on-site housing upon request.

Responsibilities include operating the campground, directing seasonal staff, and handling routine park operations. Applicants must be enrolled students with at least one year completed in their program, with preference for SD residents and students from SD institutions.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year of their program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, SD residents and SD institution students.

Responsabilités

• Assist the park manager in operating the campground and leading seasonal staff.
• Gain hands-on experience in park management and customer service.
• Perform duties such as cleaning bathrooms, selling park licenses, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Provide work direction to campground attendants and maintenance staff; handle issues and complaints.
• Assist with maintenance tasks like mowing, trimming, building repairs, and forestry; weather permitting.
