Job summary

Ottawa County is seeking a part-time, year-round park maintenance worker to join the Parks Department. The role includes a wide range of tasks from carpentry and repairs to trail grooming, snow removal and grounds upkeep across various sites.

Ideal candidates will have experience with hand and power tools, chainsaws, mowers or light construction equipment, plus a flexible schedule including evenings and holidays. 18+ and HS diploma preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with painting, carpentry, electrical or plumbing repairs.
• Experience with electrical, mechanical and plumbing maintenance.
• Familiarity with mowers, chainsaws and other park maintenance equipment.
• Ability to use manual and power tools.
• Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA/MIOSHA).
• Ability to layout work efficiently to minimize time and materials.
• Flexibility to work year-round, including evenings and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform seasonal building and grounds maintenance and repairs.
• Perform grounds work: firewood, snow removal, trails, tree work, boardwalks, benches.
• Operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, chippers, snowmobiles.
• Complete tasks timely per Parks Commission standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
