Job summary

Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) seeks a Park Ranger Maintenance at a state park to supervise maintenance and housekeeping, ensuring facilities and grounds meet safety and standards. You will oversee teams performing cleaning, repairs, and improvements across buildings, grounds, and equipment.

The role requires leadership of staff and volunteers, hands-on trades experience, and strong communication with guests and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising custodial/housekeeping, grounds keeping, or related facilities upkeep.
• Experience with tools and equipment to maintain park facilities and grounds, including mowing.
• Experience in leading, directing, training and evaluating staff and volunteers.
• Demonstrated skills in basic construction and maintenance trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry).
• Experience in vehicle maintenance and engine repair.
• Strong verbal and written communication for staff, guests, and reports.
• Proficient with computers and software applications.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance and housekeeping to keep facilities clean and presentable.
• Oversee projects to maintain and improve park facilities, grounds, and equipment.
• Apply carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, landscaping, and basic repairs as needed.
• Coach wage employees and volunteers in daily operations.
• Ensure guest safety and satisfaction with clean, safe facilities and helpful information.
