Job summary

Dakota County is seeking a Park Keeper II to maintain and enhance park grounds and facilities across the Dakota County Park System. Two full-time positions will be based at Lebanon Hills Park (Eagan) and Spring Lake Park (Hastings).

Responsibilities include leading staff, performing skilled maintenance on trails, turf, trees, and structures, and winter snow removal and grooming of cross country ski trails. Must meet minimum qualifications and be safety-conscious.

Qualifications

• One year certificate/degree in Grounds Maintenance, Natural Resources, Landscape, Horticulture, or closely related field.
• Two years of grounds maintenance experience or an equivalent combination totaling 3 years.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Class A commercial license within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Implement tree maintenance/management programs including trimming, removals, and stump grinding.
• Perform landscape improvements such as planting trees and shrubs, seeding, laying sod, grading, and site restoration.
• Snow plowing County parking lots, access roads and greenways with truck plow combinations, UTVs, or tractors.
• Maintain turf areas: mowing, overseeding, aerating, pesticide application, fertilizing.
• Maintain access roads, trails, parking lots, utilities, retaining walls, bridges, and other infrastructure.
• Lead staff on tasks and projects when assigned; supervise at same or lower grade levels.
