Job summary

City Of Cheyenne is seeking a Parks Irrigation Technician to perform skilled plumbing tasks for irrigation systems and park fixtures. The role includes installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems within park facilities, under supervision of the Irrigation Foreman.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED with specialized irrigation/plumbing training; two years of related experience is preferred. It is a full-time, non-exempt role within CRE/Parks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with specialized training in plumbing/irrigation system repair and maintenance.
• Two (2) years of responsible irrigation and plumbing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make repairs to irrigation systems as directed by supervisor.
• Acquire knowledge of the Central Control System through supervisor training.
• Repair, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and install irrigation systems and components; repair water and sewer lines; unclog sinks, toilets, and urinals; repair leaks on faucets, drains, pumps, hot water tanks, piping, and valves.
• Activate and winterize irrigation systems annually.
• Operate equipment used in irrigation/plumbing activities and general park maintenance.
• Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs; requisition materials as required.
• Inspect parks turf and landscape for soil moisture, distribution efficiency, and water accordingly; program systems and provide watering recommendations.
• Perform cleanup of job sites and seeding/sodding of disturbed areas.
• Respond to public inquiries, participate in events, and maintain professionalism; mentor others.
• Perform other duties as required.
