Job summary

DEPT OF PARKS & RECREATION in New York City seeks a Community Coordinator to support Riverside Park South operations. You will work with the Park Administrator and Conservancy to ensure safe, well-maintained public spaces and programs.

The role requires strong communication, budgeting, and horticultural coordination, with flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed. A degree with relevant experience is preferred, with civil service pathways possible.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree and two years of experience in community work or related duties, or a high school diploma with six years of related experience.
• Equivalent combination may be accepted with at least one year of related experience.
• Preferred: horticulture background and knowledge of Parks operations.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of essential community services for Riverside Park South.
• Develop and track the annual park maintenance budget with the Park Administrator and Parks Budget Office.
• Coordinate with NYC Parks and Riverside Park Conservancy to ensure inspections and maintenance per contracts; address safety hazards.
• Oversee horticultural care and long-term maintenance planning; maintain records of plant materials.
• Track maintenance, programming, expenditures, work orders, and inventory; coordinate purchasing and contractor services.
• Represent the Agency at meetings and liaise with Riverside South Property Owners Association and other stakeholders.
