Job summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, is hiring a Park Guide in Pennsylvania to deliver pre-established talks and guide groups of visitors through park experiences.

You will answer questions, provide orientation on current events, and explain safety hazards while helping with a broad range of visitor services. You will also operate audio-visual equipment, perform clerical duties, and assist with simple maintenance to ensure a safe environment for guests.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Uniform allowance provided.
  • May travel up to 2 nights per month.
  • Probationary period of 1 year required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides pre-established talks and guides groups (up to 50 people).
  • Answers a wide variety of visitor questions and provides orientation of current park events.
  • Informs visitors of potential safety hazards and offers a range of visitor services.
  • Operates and maintains audio-visual equipment and handles clerical tasks (time/attendance, travel).
  • Performs minor maintenance to keep a clean, safe work area.
