Job summary

Town of West Springfield is seeking a maintenance worker to perform a variety of tasks in caring for recreation areas, athletic fields, parks and playgrounds.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with two years of related experience and a valid MA Driver’s License. Candidates should have mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate maintenance equipment while working in outdoor environments year-round.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent plus two years experience in the same or related field.
• MA Drivers’ License required.
• Experience in construction or maintenance work is preferred.
• General knowledge of methods, procedures, equipment and materials for maintenance tasks is expected.

Responsibilities

• Operates light to heavy equipment for snow removal depending on license class.
• Paints and performs minor repairs on Town equipment and buildings.
• Performs tasks ordinarily assigned to a laborer.
• Installs park and playground equipment and sets up hockey rinks; maintains park areas and playgrounds.
