Job summary

City of Savannah is seeking a parks maintenance worker to help keep neighborhood parks in good condition.

You will operate lawn equipment, prune shrubs, plant trees, apply mulch, manage litter, and perform related duties. A high school diploma or GED and at least six months of related maintenance experience are required, along with a valid driver’s license and clean driving history. A background check and pre-employment screening apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent; six (6) months of related maintenance experience necessary.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Operates lawn maintenance equipment including mowers, hedge trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
• Operates dump truck.
• Plants shrubs and trees.
• Trims hedges and prunes landscape plants.
• Applies mulch to landscape beds.
• Trims and pulls weeds.
• Rakes and blows leaves.
• Applies pesticides and fertilizers.
• Collects and removes litter.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
