Job summary

City of Weslaco is seeking a maintenance worker to handle park and cemetery grounds, mowing, edging, pruning, irrigation, and related tasks. The role includes operating tractors, mowers, trimmers, and cleaning equipment, along with basic carpentry and repairs.

You will support events with leagues and maintain facilities and restrooms. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, up to three years of related experience, and a valid Texas Class C license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years related parks/maintenance experience desired.
• Texas Driver License Class C required.
• Background check and drug screen.
• Emergency Management and Incident Command training within 3 months.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, custodial, and grounds keeping tasks in parks, facilities, and cemetery.
• Support park development and maintenance activities (mowing, edging, pruning, weed control, irrigation).
• Operate mowing equipment, trimmers, blowers, and other field tools.
• Maintain restrooms, walkways, bleachers, and park infrastructure.
• Assist with event coordination with leagues and tournaments.
• Complete work orders and reports in a timely manner.
